The Applied English Linguistics group at the University of Tübingen focuses on language learning & teaching with corpora and eLearning technologies, bilingual education (CLIL), English as a lingua franca, intercultural communication as well as translation and interpreting.

In the context of PELLIC, we are responsible for designing and implementing a virtual learning environment for authenticated and collaborative learning activities. We also develop e-learning contents and activity patterns, including spoken and written discourse materials geared to the pedagogical needs of PELLIC.

Kurt Kohn is Chair of the Applied English Linguistics group at the University of Tübingen; member of the steering committee of “Sprachen & Beruf” Düsseldorf and of the advisory board of the International Journal of Applied Linguistics (INJAL). His research interests include technology-enhanced language learning and teaching (CALL, multimedia, e-learning), pedagogic corpora, content and language integrated learning (CLIL), and English as a Lingua Franca. Andreas Gombitza Andreas Gombitza

Andreas Glombitza is a researcher/lecturer and is working on his PhD in Applied English Linguistics, on the use of English as a lingua franca. He has been involved in the EU projects Backbone (LLP) and the Comenius network EcoMedia Europe. His research & development expertise is in eLearning, blended language learning and English as a lingua franca. Recent publications: [with K. Kohn & G.
